Yuvraj Singh was part of the Indian team that won the 2000 edition of the ICC Men’s U-19 World Cup held in Sri Lanka. The left-handed batting all-rounder played a big role in helping the Mohammad Kaif-led side finish on top, and for his superb performance in the 16-team tournament, he won the Player of the Series award. He was awarded a Honda sports car, and now more than two decades later, his father, Yograj Singh, shared a video of his first ever car.
In a clip that is going viral on the internet, Yograj, who also played for India in the early 1980s, gave a glimpse of the modified car, which is now painted yellow.
Here’s a look:
After winning the U-19 World Cup for India in 2000, Yuvraj made his international debut for India on October 3, 2000, during an ODI match in Nariobi against Kenya. He went on to play in a total of 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is for the Men in Blue during his 17-year-long international career.
He played a big role in helping the MS Dhoni-led side win the 2007 edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and won the Player of the Series award in the 2011 ODI World Cup, which India won by getting the better of Sri Lanka in the final played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 2, 2011.
Yuvraj, who announced his retirement in 2019, played for teams like Punjab Kings, Pune Warriors India, Delhi Capitals, RCB, SRH, and Mumbai Indians in the IPL and won the winners medal with Orange Army in 2016 and with MI in 2019.
He is reportedly in line to become the new head coach of the Delhi Capitals. The Delhi-based franchise is in search of a new head coach after parting ways with former Australian captain and legendary batter Ricky Ponting. Ponting was associated with DC as head coach since the 2018 season, but after he failed to help the side qualify for the IPL playoffs in the last three editions, DC decided to part ways with him.
After leaving DC, Ponting was announced as the new head coach of the Punjab Kings in the IPL last month. He replaced Trevor Bayliss.
