Pawan Kumar, hailing from Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh, has brought immense pride to his district by securing the 239th rank in the UPSC CSE 2023. His success has sparked a wave of joy throughout the village, with both his family and the entire community celebrating his achievement. Upon his return to his native village following his remarkable feat, Pawan Kumar was accorded a grand welcome.
The entire village came together to greet him, showering him with flowers and adorning him with garlands made of currency notes. A procession of vehicles trailed behind him, while family members and villagers danced and sang to the beats of drums and DJ music, creating a festive atmosphere brimming with joy and pride.
On this momentous occasion, Pawan Kumar expressed his heartfelt emotions, stating, “This is my first visit to the village since passing the UPSC exam, and I am overwhelmed by the love and affection I have received from the people in my community. I am deeply grateful to everyone for their support and blessings.” He further added, “However, I also perceive this as a challenge. With this love and trust comes a great responsibility. I am now entrusted with the task of fulfilling the expectations of the people. I am committed to making a positive difference in the lives of my fellow villagers, our society, and the underprivileged. I must contribute towards their welfare and upliftment.”
Pawan Kumar faced setbacks, failing the exam twice before finally succeeding on his third attempt. Coming from a humble background with a family relying on four bighas of agricultural land and a thatched hut, his father worked hard to support them.
According to Pawan’s sister Goldie, he firmly believed that education was the key to breaking free from poverty. He dedicated himself to studying wherever he found himself at home. Pawan attributes his remarkable achievement to his family, underscoring the crucial role his parents and sisters played in his journey.
