New Delhi: Former Los Blancos leftback, Roberto Carlos has endorsed his former boss Florentino Perez to run for a second stint as president of Real Madrid.
As rumours continue to grow that Perez is considering wrestling back control of the Bernabeu, one of his former superstar employees, Roberto Carlos has given him the push to run for a second stint.
"Florentino wants to return to be president of Real Madrid and if he wants to, he can," the veteran Brazilian leftback told RNE (Radio Nacional de Espana).
"He lives and breathes football and he misses winning titles with Madrid. I think a lot of people will be pleased to see him return," added Roberto Carlos.
The 35 year old then spoke about the now infamous photograph of Perez posing with fellow ex-Galacticos, Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo.
The picture has drawn heavy criticism from current merengues supremo, Ramon Calderon, who accused the construction tycoon of only showing his face when the club are in crisis.
"I don’t see anything wrong with him taking the photo. He did not do it to disrupt the club and I believe it was a genuine gesture. I would’ve taken a photo with him too," he confessed.
Finally, the current Fenerbahce wingback also had some words of advice for the current regime.
"I don’t have anything against (Predrag) Mijatovic. But if he wasn’t at the club, I would still be in Madrid right now. And Calderon is an intelligent man… he should not worry about Florentino’s photos or about other things. He should continue to follow (Barcelona president) Joan Laporta’s example of how to get things done properly," he concluded.
