How to Make the Infinity Symbol on an iPhone

Using the Emoji Keyboard

Tap the typing area. This opens your iPhone's keyboard.

Tap the emoji key. It's the smiley face key at the bottom-left corner of your iPhone's keyboard.

Tap the symbol category. It's the next-to-last category icon (the one containing 4 small symbols) below the emoji list. This switches to the symbol category, which begins with the heart emoji.

Swipe left to the math symbols. The infinity symbol is grouped with the plus, minus, multiplication, and division emoji. This group is between the blue arrow buttons and the clocks.

Tap the infinity symbol ∞. It's in the bottom row of emoji, just below the multiplication (x) symbol. This inserts it into the typing field.

Using the Infinity Emoji with Predictive Text

Tap the typing area. This opens your iPhone's keyboard. If your iPhone displays suggested words above your keyboard as you type (predictive text), you can use that feature to quickly insert the infinity symbol into any text field. Type the word infinity. Once you type the last letter, the gray infinity symbol emoji should appear above the top-right corner of the keyboard.

Tap the infinity symbol ∞. This inserts it into the typing area.

Copying and Pasting

Locate an infinity symbol on the internet. If you're reading wikiHow on your iPhone right now, you can use this one: ∞ In the future, just open Safari, type infinity symbol into the search bar, and then press Search. Tap the matching result from Wikipedia, as there's an infinity symbol right at the top of the page.

Tap and hold the infinity symbol. After a second or so, a small menu will appear.

Tap Copy on the menu. The infinity symbol is now copied to your phone's clipboard.

Tap and hold the place you want to insert the symbol. After a second, a small menu will appear.

Tap Paste on the menu. The copied infinity symbol now appears in the typing area.

Creating a Keyboard Shortcut

Copy an infinity symbol ∞ to your clipboard. You can use this method to create a keyboard shortcut that allows you to insert an infinity symbol whenever you type a certain word. Start by tapping and holding the infinity symbol above and selecting Copy when it appears. Another way to find an infinity symbol to copy is to open Safari, type infinity symbol into the search bar, and then press Search. Tap the matching result from Wikipedia, as there's an infinity symbol right at the top of the page.

Open your iPhone's Settings iPhone Settings App Icon. You'll usually find it on the home screen or in one of your folders.

Scroll down and tap General. It's atop the third group of settings.

Scroll down and tap Keyboard. It's about halfway down the page.

Tap Text Replacement. It's near the top of the page.

Tap the plus +. It's at the top-right corner of the page.

Tap and hold the "Phrase" field. A black pop-up will appear.

Tap Paste. The infinity symbol will appear.

Type infinitysymbol into the "Shortcut" field. This word will serve as a shortcut to inserting the infinity symbol when you're typing. You can shorten this to something like infinitysym if that's easier.

Tap Save. It's at the top-right corner. Now whenever you type the word infinitysymbol on your iPhone, you'll be able to quickly insert the infinity symbol.

Type infinitysymbol when you want to insert the symbol. An infinity symbol will appear at the top-center part of the keyboard.
