The reptile tried to climb over an iron railing to return to the water when the officials tried to capture it.
The forest officials covered its head with a cloth and attempted to tie its limbs to prevent it from attacking the rescue team. Shortly afterward, ropes were brought in to secure its legs. Four forest officials held the ropes to secure the crocodile’s head and front legs, while another official looped a rope around its hind legs, as per NDTV report.
Two officials lifted the crocodile’s tail while others secured a rope around its mouth.
Officials stated that after a few hours, the crocodile was successfully rescued and released back into the canal.
This incident is not the first time crocodiles have been spotted outside their natural habitat. In December 2023, a crocodile was seen on the streets of Chennai after heavy rainfall. Similarly, in Gir, Gujarat, in July of the same year, massive downpours created flood-like conditions, leading to similar sightings.
