New Delhi: Police in North Carolina in the United States have arrested and charged a man with the murder of Indian Ph D student Abhijit Mahato.
Nineteen-year-old Stephen Oates was among the four people arrested after a high-speed car chase.
He reportedly has a criminal record of break-ins and assaults. Police say the arrests may have brought them closer to solving more than 70 robberies committed since January 1.
Police have charged him with first-degree murder for the shooting death last week of 29-year-old Mahato.
Mahato, a Ph D student at Duke's Pratt School of Engineering was found shot dead on January 18 night in his apartment near the campus.
