New Delhi: Central Vigilance Commissioner Pradeep Kumar has convened a meeting with CBI Director AP Singh to discuss the modalities and prepare a blue print for further investigations into the 2G scam.
Official sources said the meeting between the chiefs of the anti-corruption watchdog and the investigating agency is likely to be held this month.
They said a decision in this regard was taken by the CVC officials following a judgement by the Supreme Court overseeing the matter related to allocation of 2G licence to certain telecom companies in 2008.
"CVC will meet the CBI Director this month to discuss further course of action. The officials will discuss on the issues related to 2G probe," a senior official privy to the development said.
The official said the CVC was considering a fortnightly meeting with CBI officials to monitor the investigation.
The apex court had on February 2 asked the CBI to file status reports on its ongoing probe into the 2G spectrum allocation case to CVC.
The court's decision came on a plea for setting up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the 2G case. The bench has asked CBI to submit status reports on further investigation into the matter to the CVC, which will assist
the court.
The Supreme Court has also cancelled 122 2G licences given to telecom companies holding that they were issued in a "totally arbitrary and unconstitutional manner" and asked the government to initiate process to allot fresh licences based on auction of spectrum.
"The Commission will abide by the court's directive and chalk out a detailed plan to decide on the proceedings. The meeting will also be attended by the CBI officials involved in the probe," the official said.
