New Delhi: Slowly and steadily, Abhay Deol has developed a separate fan base for himself. The actor looked promising in his first film 'Socha Na Tha' (2005) but his performance in 'Manorama Six Feet Under' (2007) earned him a berth among the most versatile actors in Bollywood.
With 'Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye' and 'Dev D', he came into the league of actors who were not in the rat race of producing a hit film. His off-screen lifestyle also presented him as a person who believes in performing rather than talking.
He has done commercially unsuccessful films such as 'Aisha' and 'Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local' but it seems they were a part of the evolution of a thinking actor.
'Shanghai' once again proved his calibre as an actor who can pull off unconventional roles. 'Chakravyuh' didn't do well but Abhay Deol was satisfactory in it as well.
