Thiruvananthapuram: Police recorded statements of Malyalam actor Dileep and his director friend Nadirsha in a case related to the kidnapping and sexual assault of an actress on Wednesday.
Before going to police at around 12.30 noon, Dileep told the media that the statements were going to be recorded on his complaint that the main accused in the case, Sunil Kumar, blackmailed him.
Till the last report, the actor was still being questioned by the police.
The actor alleged that Kumar asked him to pay Rs 1 crore or else he would drag his name into the case.
Though Dileep had filed this complaint in April, the new developments came after the details of his complaint were brought out to the media.
The actress also spoke out for the first time after the incident in February. In a statement issued to the media, she said,"I didn't spoke to the media after the incident because some top police officials told me that if details are discussed in public it will affect the case negatively. Now, a lot of information is coming out to the media and that is why I am making this statement.”
“The investigation is going on in full swing and I trust the police. Many names are coming out in media, which I did not know. I have not shared anybody's name through social media. I have no proof against anyone named, nor I have proof to say that they are not involved." said the actress.
Without naming Dileep, the actress said that she was hurt when one actor said that she and Kumar were friends. "If they make such baseless allegations against me, I will take legal action. My conscience is clean. I am not scared of anyone. I will face all the investigation. I wish that those behind this should come out.”
Dileep had told reporter TV, a Malayalam channel, that Kumar and the actress were friends. “We should be careful when we select our friends. All of them worked together in Goa,” he had said.
