Air India Air Hostess Attacked Inside Her Hotel Room In London While Sleeping, Intruder 'Hit Her, Dragged Her On Floor'

In a shocking incident, a female Air India crew member was allegedly assaulted by an intruder in her hotel room in London earlier this week.

The incident took place on Thursday night at Radisson Red Hotel in Heathrow, London, when the intruder entered the cabin crew member’s room and attempted to assault her. The crew members of multiple Air India flights were staying at the property.

She was saved by her colleagues after her screams reached them in the adjacent rooms and they quickly rushed to rescue the victim. As per the Times of India, the intruder tried to run away when he saw at her colleagues coming for help but was eventually caught by the hotel staff.

“The crew member was sleeping when an intruder attacked her in her room around 1.30 am. Startled, she woke up and screamed for help. He attacked her with a clothes hanger and dragged her on the floor as she tried to escape towards the door,” an official was quoted by TOI.

‘Deeply Anguished’: Air India On Crew Assault

The airline also expressed anguish over the horrific incident. In its statement on Saturday, the airline said, “Air India accords foremost priority to the safety, security and well-being of our crew and staff members. We are deeply anguished by an unlawful incident of intrusion at a hotel, operated by a major international chain, that affected one of our crew members.”

According to the report by the Hindu, the air hostess who was dazed suffered bruises and was taken to hospital. The victim has returned to India and is undergoing counselling sessions, it added.

“She was badly bruised, and the intruder tried to escape. The police were called in, and she was taken to a hospital,” airline sources told TOI.

Sources said that complaints had been made on several occasions in the past about inadequate security at the London hotel, its dark corridors, unmanned reception and a miscreant knocking on the doors.

Congress MP Manish Tewari said that report of assault on Air India crew member is very disturbing.

The case is also being pursued with the local police and the hotel management.
