Malayalam actors Roshan Mathew and Nimisha Sajayan are teaming up for the upcoming film Chera. According to the latest updates, the film has completed the shooting.

Earlier, the makers had released the first poster for Chera which seems to have been inspired by the famous Renaissance sculpture Pieta by Michelangelo. The poster featured actors Roshan Mathew and Nimisha Sajayan who play the lead roles in the film, which is said to be a thriller.

Chera is directed by Lijin Jose, best known for the films Law Point and Friday. The screenplay has been penned by Najeem Koya and Shahabaz Aman will compose the music of the film, while the lyrics are penned by Anwar Ali. Alex J Pulikkal will handle the cinematography for Chera and the editing will be done by Francis Louis.

Ajay Jose will compose the background music for Chera. Expectations are high from this film starring Nimisha Sajayan in the lead role. On the other hand, Roshan Mathew’s previous outing was the comedy Maharani which was directed by G Marthandan and also starred actor Shine Tom Chacko in the lead role. The film unfortunately tanked at the box office. Roshan’s recent web series Poacher received good reviews from the audience.

Meanwhile, Nimisha Sajayan has several much-awaited projects in the pipeline. DNA, Enna Vilai, Gangs of Kuruthi Punal and Dead for Each Other are some of them. Nimisha Sajayan’s last outing in Malayalam was the film Adrishya Jalakangal starring Tovino Thomas, directed by Biju Damodaran.

In one of the previous interviews, Roshan shared what attracted him to Chera. “It’s a story that immediately grabbed my attention when I heard the story. At that point, I was also waiting to work with Nimisha. That was a major factor,” he said.

“I had also seen Lijin Jose’s Friday and the documentary Eight And Half Intercuts. It was obvious that he is someone who thinks differently. He is a filmmaker who has his character. For someone who has only made one commercial feature film, I think he is someone who dares to find his independent voice. He is not someone who follows trends and he is ready to face the consequences,” Roshan explained.
