Attack on Amarnath Yatris: RSS Goes Ahead With National Meet in Jammu Next Week
Various organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and Bar Association have called a bandh in Jammu on Thursday to condemn the terror attack on the pilgrims.

New Delhi: For the first time prant pracharak baithak (meeting of regionals campaigners) of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is going to take place in Jammu, about 200 km away from Anantnag where terrorists killed seven Amarnath pilgrims on Wednesday.

The preparations are in full swing in the newly established RSS office, close to Ved Mandir in Jammu, where around 200 prant pracharak are going to attend the meeting and chart out agenda for the coming year. The meeting will take place from July 17 to 20.

J Nandakumar, RSS leader and convener, pragya pravah said, “The extremists are playing with fire. They are doing this to be in the limelight. They know their game is over. And where are those people who started Not in My Name campaign? This attack on pilgrims is a cowardly act.”

“Our baithak was planned a year in advance, and Amarnath Yatra attack has happened just a day before. Our meeting should not be seen in the light of the attack. We will go ahead with the baithak. Government is looking into the security and yatra is continuing too. The administration has been informed about our baithak,” said a senior RSS leader in Jammu.

Various organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and Bar Association have called a bandh in Jammu on Thursday to condemn the terror attack on the pilgrims. “There is a concern among people, and we are worried about their security. Amarnath Yatra cannot take place without the cooperation of the locals. The problem comes when people start posturing,” said the RSS leader.

He added, “There has been Islamic radicalization for the past few years, which has resulted in faces like Zakir Musa, who openly say their struggle is not political but about Islam and Jihad.”

The RSS leader said the Amarnath terror attack is likely to be discussed during the meeting. Since the attack, various Opposition parties have attacked the government for lack of security for Yatris. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi needs to accept responsibility. The Sangh leaders, however, refused to comment on political issues.
