Bihar government okays proposal on DPR preparation for metro rail
Bihar government gave a green signal today for preparation of the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed metro rail project in Patna. The decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Principal Secretary (Cabinet Coordination and Secretariat) Brajesh Mehrotra told reporters.

The state government sanctioned Rs 2.52 crore as consultancy fee to Rites Ltd for preparing the DPR, he said. In another decision, the state government approved a proposal for bypolls to fill the vacant posts in the panchayat bodies on July seven in all districts except for Saran and

Siwan for which notification will be issued on June 17 next.

For the vacant panchayat posts in Siwan and Saran districts, notification will be issued on July three and the bypolls will be held on July 24 next, he said. The government approved a grant of Rs 167.81 crore for implementation of schemes under Mahadalit development, Mehrotra said adding Rs 235.64 crore has been sanctioned for boring tubewells to improve irrigation facility on an additional 1.20 lakh hectare farmland.

It also approved a proposal for payment of salaries to the untrained primary teachers recruited in 1991 in the scale of trained teachers with effect from October one, 2003, he added.
