Foreign Secretary William Hague has asked the government to respond to aspirations of people.
London: British Foreign Secretary William Hague urged Libya on Saturday to stop using force against protesters and asked governments in the Middle East to respond to the "legitimate aspirations" of their people.
"I condemn the violence in Libya, including reports of the use of heavy weapons fire and a unit of snipers against demonstrators," Hague said in a statement. "This is clearly unacceptable and horrifying."
Hague said authorities in Bahrain, which was a British protectorate until 1971, should also engage with anti-government demonstrators and punish those responsible for the deaths of four protesters killed in Manama on Thursday.
