New Delhi: Meanwhile the home of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist captured alive during the Mumbai attack has finally been tracked down to a village in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
India and Pakistan have clashed over reports that the terrorist came from Pakistan.
Pakistani papers now report that villagers in Faridkot have finally confirmed that Kasab hails from the village.
A report in the daily The Observer quotes an unnamed villager as saying that local religious clerics were brainwashing youths in the area. There were also confirmations that Lashkar-e-Toeba's (LeT's) founder, Hafiz Sayeed had visited nearby Depalpur.
Depalpur is turning out to be a place full of 'hundreds' of LeT supporters.
There was an LeT office in Depalpur but that had been hurriedly closed in the past few days.
The Lashkar-e-Toeba newspaper is distributed in Depalpur and Faridkot. Depalpur lies in the south of Punjab province, an economically backward area long known for producing jihad fanatics.
