New Delhi: The central government will work with states to evolve broad consensus on the proposal to create the anti-terror hub NCTC, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told the Rajya Sabha on Friday and hoped that all parties will speak with one voice on the issue of combating terrorism.
In his reply to the discussion on the motion of thanks to the president's address, the prime minister said there was complete agreement that "we should not make any compromise with terrorism".
Expressing hope that all parties will speak with one voice on the issue of fighting terrorism, he said the central government will strive towards a broad consensus on the proposal to create the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
The prime minister said the government will "work with state governments" to give meaning and substance to NCTC.
Several state governments have expressed reservations about the proposal to create the NCTC as they feel it will encroach upon their powers.
