KOCHI: Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust is opening Navajeevanam Free Dialysis Centre at Ernakulam General Hospital. It is a joint venture by the Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust and the state government. An amount of Rs 17 lakh has been sanctioned towards carrying out the renovation inside the General Hospital to start the unit. This centre has been providing free services to kidney patients for the past five years. In Kerala, there are nine centres in six districts. An amount of Rs 7 crore has been spent so far to conduct 75,000 free dialyses. The Health Department has provided the space, electricity, medicines and the services of the doctors while the trust offers dialysis machine and a technician. The services of this unit will be available for 24 hours. The unit will be ready by Onam, said K N Anandakumar, Founder and and Executive Director of Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust.
