Ferrari driver Felipe Massa is confident about his future with the Italian racing team despite two tough finishes in Monaco and Canada. The 32-year-old Brazilian is currently at seventh place in drivers' championship with 49 points - ahead of Force India's Paul di Resta and behind his main rival, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes - but the last two races have not been favourable.
In Monaco, Massa had two severe collisions but fortunately did not have any serious injuries. This past weekend in Montreal, he overcame an incident in qualifying to finish eighth for his fifth points finish of the season. Against the backdrop of rumours over his future with the Scuderia, the former championship runner-up was assured about his performance.
"I am calm; I think it's important to have a good pace," he told TotalRace. "I'm feeling good in the car and have a good pace. I'm very upset about what happened in Bahrain, with the tyres and the hits I've had. That hurt my score, but I'm happy with the car I'm driving and that's what counts most."
Asked about whether there was a better option for Ferrari to have behind the wheel, Massa said: "In my opinion, if you had a driver so much better to get into my place, okay. But I think there isn't."
Massa made a magnificent start to this season and managed to secure fourth place in the Australian GP. His best performance includes his third-place finish in the Spanish GP which he secured after taking a start from the ninth grid slot.
