MADURAI: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, on Wednesday, stayed filing of the chargesheet against the principal of a college in Tiruchy in a nun rape case. The Bench also admitted a plea from the victim seeking fresh investigation into her complaint.Florence Mary, in her complaint to the police, had alleged that Rajarathinam, the principal of the college where she was working, and two others, raped her after forcing her to consume cold drinks laced with sedatives. As a result, she became pregnant and underwent abortion at a private hospital in Tiruchy. She had also lodged a complaint at the Tiruchy Fort police station. Florence Mary averred that the statements recorded so far were in favour of the accused. Under these circumstances, if the chargesheet was filed now, she would not get justice, the petitioner had said. She, therefore, prayed for a stay on filing the chargesheet until a fresh inquiry is conducted to ascertain the facts.Justice R Mala, before whom the petition came up, granted an interim stay on filing of the chargesheet.
