SRIKAKULAM: A few local Congress party leaders reportedly attended the magisterial inquiry over Kakarapalli police firing at Revenue Divisional Office at Tekkali in the district on Wednesday.The second phase of the inquiry has been scheduled to be held at Tekkali on December 21. The morning session of the magisterial enquiry was held on Sompeta firing while the afternoon session was held on Kakrapalli firing. The inquiry was conducted by Joint Collector E Sridhar and RDO, Tekkali V Visweswara Rao. About 20 locals including the family members of the deceased at the Kakarapalli firing and local congress leaders from five villages namely Hanumanthu Naidupeta, Seerapuvanipeta, Akasa lakkavaram and Godalam had attended the afternoon session of the inquiry today which was boycotted by Bhavanapadu Thermal Vyathireka Porata Samithi.Boycotting the Sompeta inquiry, Paryavarana Parirakshana Samithi PPS) submitted a representation to Joint Collector E Sridhar demanding a judicial inquiry on the police firing. “Not even a single member of PPS attended the inquiry today. All the 17 persons who attended the inquiry are supporters of Nagarjuna Constructions and police,” said PPS President Krishna Murthy.Murthy said legal action should be initiated against the then Superintendent of Police, Srikakulam Sanjay Kumar Jain who had allowed Nagarjuna Construction Company to go ahead with  ground levelling works for construction of the plant even though it did not obtain a Consent for Establishment (CFE) from AP Pollution Control Board. Unless, a judicial inquiry probes into the police firing, no local will attend the magisterial inquiry, he added.
