Indore: At least two workers were killed and six fell sick after inhaling a gas that leaked out at the pharmaceutical plant they worked for in Indore, police said on Sunday.

The gas leaked in the production unit of Rinilife Science Private Ltd. "Two workers were killed instantly and six fell unconscious. They were immediately rushed to a local hospital where there condition is said to be critical," an official at the Indore police control room said.

The policeman, however, refused to divulge the nature of the gas that leaked or the chemical that was being used at the factory, saying, "senior police officials have gone to the spot and investigation into the incident is on."

The deceased have been identified as Subhash Pal, 28, and Dinesh Borana, 30.

The deaths comes within days of the state capital witnessing the 25th anniversary of the Bhopal gas tragedy when tonnes of lethal gas leaked out of a now defunct Union Carbide pesticide plant, killing over 3,500 people instantly and maiming thousands for life.
