About 32 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 10,570 in cash were reportedly stolen from a house under the Kilikolloor police station limits here on Thursday evening.
The burglars broke into the house of Ajim Shad near Siyarattumood mosque, Kilikolloor, when the family had gone out to attend a marriage function.
The family left to attend the function around 4.30 pm and returned by 8.30 pm, only to find the rear door of the house open and cash and jewellery kept inside an almirah missing.
Fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs conducted inspection at the house. Police sources said that the fingerprint experts managed to collect some fingerprints believed to be of the suspects.
The choice of the time and house leads to the suspicion that someone who had a good knowledge of the locality and the family might be behind the act, police sources said.
In the complaint given to the Kilikolloor police, the family claimed that 32 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 10,570 in cash were taken away by the burglars.
