Mumbai: A bomb scare on Saturday at Vile Parle station on the Western Railway line, which was hit by seven bomb blasts on Tuesday, affected rail traffic as services were stopped between Bandra and Andheri, railway officials said.

"The cyber crime control received an anonymous call at 15:17 (IST) hours saying that a bomb had been planted at Vile Parle station. Investigations are on and all trains between Bandra and Andheri have been stopped," an official said.

"We received an anonymous call and this was not an isolated one. We have started the drill at the station and it is in full motion especially because of the past events. We do not want panic to spread," Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik also told CNN-IBN.

The station was vacated and trains between Bandra and Andheri were halted and passengers evacuated, the official said adding long distance trains were also stopped.

Since the blasts in seven trains plying on the Western line, security at stations has been stepped up.

The terror attacks killed 200 people and injured over 700.
