House panel tells TTD to streamline room booking

The Andhra Pradesh legislative committee on petitions under the chairmanship of deputy speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka inspected various places on Tirumala on Sunday.

The six-member committee led by deputy speaker of the AP assembly initially paid a visit to Dharmagiri veda pathashala and later inspected the Vaikuntam queue complex and Annaprasada bhavan on Tirumala.The principal of Dharmagiri veda pathashala, Avadhani explained to the committee about the various amenities being provided to students of the pathashala, who numbered more than 600.

Later at the queue complex, they interacted with the pilgrims and asked for feedback regarding the facilities. Tirumala JEO KS Srinivasa Raju who accompanied the team, explained about the various amenities being provided to the pilgrims inside the waiting compartments, which include photometric access card system and LED TV's. Later, the team inspected the Annaprasada bhavan and expressed their satisfaction regarding the maintenance of the premises.

Speaking to mediapersons after the inspection, deputy speaker and chairman of the committee Vikramarka appreciated the efforts put in by the TTD staff in providing various amenities to pilgrims. "There is a need to streamline the booking system for accommodation as this is a vital part of the pilgrimage. We have discussed a couple of issues which came to our notice during our inspection and have asked the TTD authorities to take steps and resolve those issues," he added.

Deputy EO Munirathnam Reddy and members of the legislative committee P Keshav, R Chandra Sekhar Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod and B Usha Rani were also present.
