Even after 64 years of Independence, there is one question, still in my mind, how free are we? We have the guarantee of a pizza in 30 minutes, but not of an ambulance or police. We get more food than the one’s who actually produce it.  We might own houses worth crores, but the ones who build it have none. We get a car loan at an interest of six per cent but education loan at 12 per cent. We can hear people at a tea stall saying child labour karne waalo ko maar dena chahiye and then say chotu chaar chaay dena. We have more mobiles than people and more hotels than toilets. We have onions for Rs 60 per kg and sim cards come for free.Where millionaires buys a cricket team but do not donate anything to the needy. Where footwear is sold in A/C showrooms and vegetables are sold on footpaths; Where we all want to be successful but we try to pull down those who are successful; We make lemon juice with artificial flavours but we make dishwash with real lemon; Where on one side we have excess food grains but people still die of hunger; But even after all this I can proudly say that I am an Indian because even though we are facing such a situation on one side we have people trying to mobilise people to fight against such situations , I live in a nation where the the vedas were born, where elders are considered next to God, where we live with the world in the 21st century but still follow our our rich culture.Sanjiti Kapoor is a class IX student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School, Jubilee hills
