VIJAYAWADA: Putting an end to political speculations on his ultimatum to the state government over grounding Bandar port works, Machilipatnam MLA Perni Venkatramaiah (Nani) on Friday announced that he sent his resignation letter to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. In his letter, the MLA urged the chief minister to forward his resignation to the Assembly speaker if the latter failed to announce the government decision on Bandar port works by August 20.The MLA reminded that though tenders were invited for the Bandar port works in 2004, the project is yet to begin due to various reasons. Former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone for Bandar port on April 23, 2008.The MLA made it clear he submitted his resignation for the cause of Bandar port and there was no political motive behind it. The MLA talked to Kiran Kumar Reddy, district incharge Galla Aruna Kumari and secondary education minister K Parthasarathi over phone this morning on his resignation.Nani said he would abide by his decision to quit the MLA post for the cause of Bandar port. If the government failed to take up Bandar port, he would retire from politics. But Nani did not say anything on his participation in YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s proposed Odarpu Yatra in Krishna district from August 15.The chief minister is likely to take a decision on Bandar port soon. If Kiran Kumar Reddy takes a decision on grounding Bandar port works, the credit will certainly go to the Congress MLA.
