THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Raising various demands, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Young doctors’ Association of India (YDAI) will jointly take out a Rajbhavan march and stage a dharna on Saturday at 10.30 a.m. IMA state president J Rajagopalan Nair, secretary A V Babu, YDAI president Vinod Kumar and coordinator Chinthu Mavelil said that they were demanding the government to withdraw the decision to deploy doctors without out sufficient training in the name of shortage of doctors in the rural sector by introducing the BRHC course with a duration of three-and-a-half years, review of the Clinical Establishment Act, restructuring of the Medical Council of India in a democratic manner, implementation of the Central Para-medical Council Bill, including Physiotherapy. IMA national co coordinator N Apparao will flag-off the march from museum junction. IMA national president G K Ramachandrappa will inaugurate the dharna. National secretary-general D R Ray, state office-bearers, YDAI national president Vinod Kumar, secretary Anirudh Lochan and others will speak. They claimed that around 10,000 people, including doctors and students from across the state, will participate in the march and dharna. A memorandum, containing various demands, will be presented to Governor H R Bharadwaj.
