IMD Forecasts More Rains in Parts of Mumbai Till Tomorrow, UP To Witness Heavy Showers on July 10-11
The weather body has also predicted isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan and Goa, Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal Karnataka on Monday.

Mumbai is likely to continue getting isolated heavy rains till tomorrow, July 9, said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday. The latest forecast by IMD came amid heavy rains leaving several parts of Mumbai waterlogged.

With several roads submerged, traffic in Mumbai was disrupted while local train movement was also hit due to waterlogging on train tracks. Air traffic was also hit with at least 51 flights cancelled till 11 am today and 27 diverted.

The weather body has also predicted isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan and Goa, Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal Karnataka on Monday. These regions are also likely to witness very heavy rainfall on July 9, 11 and 12.

Gujarat, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Interior Karnataka are also expected to receive heavy rains today while Coastal Karnataka will continue getting heavy rainfall on July 9 and 12.

Heavy rainfall spells are also likely over many parts of central, northeast and adjoining east India and Uttar Pradesh over the next five days, the IMD said. “Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over West Uttar Pradesh on 11th; East Uttar Pradesh on 10th & 11th; West Madhya Pradesh on 08th, 11th; East Madhya Pradesh on 10th & 11th July,” the IMD forecast said.

The IMD said Arunachal Pradesh is also very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) to extremely heavy falls (>204.4 mm) on July 9 whereas isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on July 8, 10 and 11.

“Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning very likely over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Central India; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi; isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab and Rajasthan during next 5 days,” the IMD added.
