THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an Emergency (InE), an innovative life- saving mobile application developed by city-based company Rain Concert Technologies, has attained national recognition. It has found itself a position in the Valid Nomination List of Women and Innovation for Mobile Awards (WIN) Book. The award is instituted by Vodafone in association with Digital Empowerment Foundation to understand how mobile phones are being used by women in the country and how their lives have been empowered as a result.InE is a mobile technology dependent solution for women who face emergency situations, where they need to alert the law enforcement authorities, hospitals, relatives or friends on the critical situation they are confronting. It is a short key messaging application, which sends emergency alert messages automatically to preset numbers and the authorities calling for external immediate help or assistance. The software allows the user to send preset messages by simply pressing pre-assigned keys. The technology, which has already been implemented in various residents’ associations in the city, was also absorbed by Thiruvananthapuram City Police to improve their security system. The CEO of Rain Concert, Abhilash R, has said that being listed in the WIN Awards Booklet has boosted the company’s spirit towards contributing furthermore to the segment of personal safety, especially for women. The company is also set to expand its geographical reach to the African sub continent and Gulf countries.
