It's official! The prince heads to war

London: Prince Harry, heir to the UK throne will fight in Iraq. The Ministry of Defence and Clarence House have confirmed in a joint statement that Prince Harry's regiment will be deployed to Iraq.

Harry's Blues and Royals regiment will serve in Iraq for six months as part of the latest deployments.

The 22-year-old prince will be the first member of the Royal Family to serve a tour of duty in a war zone since his uncle, Prince Andrew, flew helicopters in the 1982 Falklands conflict.

A year ago, Harry made it clear his desire to serve alongside his troops if the unit were called into battle. He graduated from the army's training college in Sandhurst, England.
