BANGALORE: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will hold byelection to Koppal Assembly seat, caused by the resignation of sitting JD(S) member Karadi Sanganna in March this year, on September 26.According to schedule, last date for filing nominations and its withdrawal are September 9 and 12 respectively. Counting of votes will be on September 29.It may be recalled that the sitting JD(S) member Karadi Sanganna had resigned from his assembly seat after expressing desire to join the BJP. The byelection are expected to be pose a testing time to Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda who succeeds Yeddyurappa who has a track record of winning every byelections to the state assembly.While BJP is likely to field Karadi Sanganna, there are possibilities that Gowda himself would enter the arena as he has to get elected to either houses of the state legislature within six months.
