THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) is taking out a new massive campaign with the slogan ‘Venam, Mattoru Keralam’.The campaign was conceived from the anxiety on the mode and direction of development adopted by the state, which is increasing the distance between the haves and the have-nots, destroying the environment, polluting water resources and exhausting every single natural resource.The campaign aims to establish the fact that a different model of development is possible, creating a new Kerala, where there is food security, enough water, good environment and a rich culture.The campaign was inaugurated by historian K N Panickar on October 31 at Thrissur.As part of the campaign, studies will be conducted on various development activities in the local area that negatively affect people’s lives and provide a feasible solution. Seminars on various subjects, household classes, house-visits, film festivals, and pageantry will be held in connection with the year-long campaign.The first phase of the campaign will end on January 30, 2012.As many as 16 seminars will be held, which aim at evolving suggestions for the 12th Five-Year Plan.The first one of the series on science and scientific research in Kerala will be held on December 3 at the Science and Technology Museum Hall in the city.
