CHENNAI: A farmer from Coimbatore, who appeared party-in-person in a public interest writ petition and allegedly ‘tutored’ by police inside the court hall of the first bench, was manhandled by an advocate, outside the court hall, on Tuesday.P Kandasamy of Perur filed a writ petition praying for a direction to the State Home Secretary, DGP, Coimbatore West Zone IG, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner and local bar association president Nandakumar to take action against agitators as per the statutory rules.According to Kandasamy he went to the Coimbatore SP’s office on October 10 last to lodge a complaint of land grabbing. He was, however, stopped by some advocates and students of the law college. Hence, the present plea to restore tranquility in Coimbatore city. When Kandasamy appeared party-in-person, some persons standing behind him in civil dress, allegedly ‘prompted’ and ‘tutored’ him.Directing the petitioner to implead the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry as a party in the case, the Bench posted the matter for hearing after two weeks.It was alleged that when Kandasamy stepped out of the court hall, he was kicked by an advocate.
