Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Thursday moved Delhi High Court seeking bail in connection to the now-scrapped liquor policy case.
A division bench headed by the acting Chief Justice said that if the papers are in order by 12:30 PM, the matter will be listed tomorrow. The matter was mentioned by Advocate Rajat Bhardwaj.
Sisodia has approached the Delhi High Court challenging the trial court orders denying him bail in both CBI and ED cases.
The development came after Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court rejected his bail plea on April 30. Notably, Central investigating agencies, CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED), had registered separate cases regarding the excise policy matter.
In both the cases, the lower court had rejected the bail petition. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja refused to grant relief to Sisodia, saying that this is not the right time to grant bail.
Along with CBI, ED has alleged that irregularities were found in the Delhi Excise Policy.
CBI arrested Sisodia on February 26, 2023. Following this, ED arrested the former Deputy Chief Minister on March 9, 2023 in a money laundering case on the basis of CBI FIR. Manish Sisodia resigned from the Delhi Cabinet on February 28, 2023.
