This story goes back years ago, when Shahid Kapoor was just a teenager and a star aspirant. Shahid and his mother Neelima Azeem used to visit Satish Kaushik’s home often where she used to request the film-maker to give her son a break in Bollywood.
Satish was aware that Shahid is very talented and good looking and one day he promised Neelima that he would cast him as a lead actor. “When he was just 18, he used to come along with his mom to my place. Neelima would request me to give Shahid a break. I decided to cast Shahid in Milenge Milenge because I had full trust in him. He is very talented and I believed he will be at the top one day,” said Satish.
For those who are unaware, Kaushik was about to direct Shahid’s debut film Ishq Vishq but the director was busy with Tere Naam and he rejected the offer.
Remembering his promise is how Milenge Milenge happened, in 2004. However, the film got delayed due to various reasons but Neelima is obviously feeling very grateful to the director.
“I am glad that Satishji has kept his promise. He is very humble and a sweet heart. I used to tell him about Shahid and he used to say that he is going to be a big star. And I think Shahid is proving it with every movie. He is really making it big and forming an individual image. I am sure people will love his performance,” says Neelima.
It will now be interesting to see whether Shahid can keep his mother and the director’s faith that they have shown in him with 'Milenge Milenge'.
