Nashik: The state General Secretary of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Vasant Gite, and the MNS Nashik Chief Nitin Bhosale were arrested along with 10 other members on Tuesday in connection with an advertisement put out by the party in newspapers, police said.
All the 12 MNS leaders have been arrested under Sections 153 (a) (b) of IPC, police added.
MNS had published an advertisement in local dailies on February 23 appealing to local Marathi youths or skilled workers to enroll their names with the party.
The advertisement said as per the party's discussion with the local industrial houses, the latter had agreed to recruit Marathi youths.
The 10 MNS activists who were arrested include Atul Chandak, Devkisan Parikh, Suhas Kande, Adv Ratan Ithame, Samir Shetye, Anil Wagh, Sachi Thakare, Mohan More, Sanjay Gaikwad and Pradeep Vazare.
Recently, Nashik witnessed an exodus of workers after they were threatened allegedly by the MNS activists following their party's campaign against north Indian migrants.
