HYDERABAD: The southwest monsoon set over Kerala on Sunday two days in advance and is expected to arrive in Andhra Pradesh by May 31.The south-west monsoon has also advanced into most parts of the south Arabian Sea and some parts of Tamil Nadu, south Bay of Bengal and south Andaman Sea.The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) officially announced the setting of the monsoon in Kerala on Sunday afternoon.“The Onset of the south-west monsoon over Kerala took place in association with an upper air cyclonic circulation over south-east Arabian Sea off the Kerala coast. Conditions are favourable for further advance of the monsoon over some more parts of the Arabian sea and the remaining parts of Kerala, some parts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka during the next two to three days. It will take at least three days time to arrive in Andhra Pradesh and people living in Rayalaseema will enjoy the initial rains. The first rainfall is likely to occur in Anantapur," a MeT official said.While pleasant weather conditions prevailed in many places in the Telangana and Rayalaseema regions, the mercury level shot up in the Coastal Andhra region on Sunday. The highest day temperature was reported from Kavali at 43 degree Celsius.
