Acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair's 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' is based on a novel of the same name by Mohsin Hamid, and stars Riz Ahmed and Kate Hudson in the pivotal roles. Shabana Azmi and Om Puri will also be seen in the film. The film is about the meteoric rise and fall of a Pakistani migrant in the US. It shows a young man chasing corporate success on Wall Street and struggling between his American dream, a hostage crisis and the enduring call of his family's homeland.

Q. What is your take on the 100 years of Indian cinema? Do you think the boundaries between parallel and mainstream cinema are blurring? Asked by: Akshay Iyer
A. I think in general cinema is becoming more exciting than it has been. The younger generation cinema is racy, vigorous, slick like we have nit seen. That energy is very welcome. The multiplex structure has changed it all. Wish we had that during Salaam Bombay.
Q. A few of your films have courted controversy in the sense they incensed already-rabid sections of our society. Do you expect anything similar this time? Asked by: Madhabi
A. Controversy has been my middle name for long. Very recently I have been Sati Savitri. But this film is for the young and all of us in a journey to understand ourselves. So far, I have not come across anything like that.
Q. Hi Mira, have not seen all your movies but know that they are all pretty realistic. Can we expect you to make a movie on 26/11 attacks on Mumbai. Also I would like to know a bit about the protagonist in your latest offering. Asked by: avinash
A. No movie on 26/11. Chengiz is a young man from Lahore. He thinks he is in love with US but goes there, feels betrayed. He comes back home in his quest to find out who he is. It's an coming-of-age story in an increasingly complicated world.
Q. Dear Meera, yours is a commendable effort in collaborating on a novel by Mohsin Hamid which also includes seasoned actors Shabana Azmi and Om Puri. Why aren't there more Indo-Pak collaborated movies which can bring the two nations closer? Asked by: Mansoor
A. Inshallah, we will start a whole new wave of border-less films!
