Nellai shops shut to back protest

TIRUNELVELI: Most of the shops and business establishments in Tirunelveli downed shutters on Tuesday demanding scrapping of Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project. It may be noted that president of Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangankalin Peravai T Vellaiyan had earlier extended his support for the agitation against the nuclear power project in Tirunelveli district. Due to this, almost all shops in the town and junction areas remained closed, much to the inconvenience of people. Apart from this, shopkeepers held a demonstration demanding the closure of the KKNPP. Normal life was affected due to the strike and all the shops opened by evening.On Monday, traders in Tiruchendur too had downed shutters to protest against the nuclear power project.
