Maharashtra's Education Minister Vinod Tawde has clarified his government's position on Madrasas in the state. He said that no Madrasa in the state will be de-recognised and the government will continue to provide them grants.
The government is also likely to provide teachers to the Madrasas who don't have a national school curriculum in place.
This comes after Maharashtra Minorities Minister Eknath Khadse told CNN-IBN that the government believes that Madrasas don't offer formal education.
Meanwhile, a PIL in the Bombay High Court said that the government cannot exclude over 1 lakh Madrasa students. It also alleged that the government's plans to survey Madrasas violates the rights of the children as it involves inking their fingers.
The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court refused to stay this survey instead it asked the government to file a reply in court.
