A man was severely injured after he was mowed down by a speeding car on a highway in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur. The accident, captured on surveillance camera, took place on Friday night.
As per the footage, the pedestrian walking along the road was rammed by a speeding SUV car from behind, flinging him into the air. A video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to News18 Marathi, Rohit, a resident of Uchgaon village near Kolhapur city, was reportedly returning home late at night when he was rammed by the speeding SUV car. The car hit him with such force that he was thrown several feet away.
Following the incident, the driver of the car fled the scene. The victim sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

Earlier this week, a 24-year-old milk vendor was killed after a speeding SUV driven by a 17-year old boy crashed on his two-wheeler in Mumbai’s Goregaon area. Three people have been arrested in connection to the incident, which took place at around 4 am in the area’s Aarey Colony.
According to police, the victim, Navin Vaishnaw died after a Mahindra Scorpio which was on the wrong side collided with his two-wheeler. After hitting the two-wheeler, the SUV hit an electric pole. The teenage driver tried to flee, but he had sustained injuries and was caught by police.
A case was also registered against the SUV owner Iqbal Jivani (48) and his son Mohammed Faz Iqbal Jivani (21), as the accused driver is 17 years old, officials said.
