CHENNAI: The building housing P Orr & Sons on Anna Salai is not a heritage structure, Advocate-General A Navaneethakrishnan told the Madras High Court on Tuesday. When the public interest writ petition from INTACH seeking to restrain the authorities from demolishing the building for the ongoing Metro Rail project came up before the bench comprising Justices Elipe Dharma Rao and M Venugopal, the AG, showing maps and drawings, said that the building was never declared a heritage structure.Meanwhile, the counsel for Associated Publishers informed the court that P Orr & Sons was a tenant in his client’s property. He said that notice for acquisition of land under Sec. 4(1) of the TN Land Acquisition Act and the Declaration under Sec. 6 had already been issued. The compensation award was also passed and it was yet to receive the cheque. The bench reserved its orders on the PIL.
