KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Monday dismissed a petition challenging the election of Jose Thettayil of the LDF from the Angamaly Assembly constituency. Justice P Bhavadasan issued the order while dismissing a petition filed by defeated UDF candidate Johny Nelloor.The election was challenged on the ground that when Jose Thettayil filed his nomination papers, he was a notary appointed by the State Government. His name was mentioned in the register of notaries.Therefore, he was not eligible to contest in the Assembly election as he was holding an office of profit and drawing remuneration from the government, Nelloor argued. Dismissing the petition the court said it did not contain the required facts on the basis of which the election could be set aside.
