Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday.
"The highest-level visitor from Russia will be Premier Putin," Lavrov said during a meeting with Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.
"Putin will attend the opening ceremony and will meet with national leaders of China."
Putin will be joined in Beijing for the opening ceremony on August 8 by a cast of world leaders including US President George W. Bush, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda.
