Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan and Metro Rail man E Sreedharan have been selected for the first Prathibha Samman Awards, instituted by State Bank of Travancore, for outstanding achievements at the national and state levels. The awards had been instituted for honouring those behind the noted achievements which had geared the prestige of the nation through one’s chosen domain of activity and their role in community services and humanitarian/charitable activities. The award carries a bronze memento designed by artist Bhattathiri, gold medal and citation.
The awardees will be selected from the fields of business, science, arts, community services and public affairs and will be presented in the coming years also, coinciding with the Foundation Day of the Bank.
The jury comprises Chief General Manager, General Managers and two eminent persons from outside the bank nominated by the Managing Director.
The jury for this year was headed by Sajeev Krishnan, Chief General Manager and General Managers N Krishnan and S Vasudevan; State Planning Board member G Vijayaraghavan and litterateur George Onakkoor as members.
K M Chandrasekhar, Vice-Chairman, Planning Board, will present the awards at a function to be held at the University Senate Hall, here on October 6 at 6.30 pm. P Nanda Kumaran, MD, will preside over the meeting.
