THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fisherman from Karumkulam has lodged complaints with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and top police officials alleging that he and his family had been kicked out of their home by the Kanjiramkulam SI and a gang of criminals.Raju Paviyans, a resident of Pulluvila, Pazhayathura Puraydom, told a press conference here on Tuesday that Kanjiramkulam SI Robert Johny had provided all support to goons for forcibly evicting him, his wife Alphonsia Raju and their three children from their house, which falls in the coastal ‘purambokku’ land in  Karumkulam village.Raju said that he had been in the Gulf for 27 years and earned a livelihood as a fisherman now.  The land in question - 25 cents of ‘Kadal Purambokke’ -  was given to him by his in-laws for Rs 50,000. He had then applied to Revenue officials for ‘pattayam’ and that process was on, he said in his written complaint. But on May 21 this year, a group of men led by the SI had assaulted Raju and his family and thrown out their belongings from the house. The local people had rushed them to the Neyyattinkara Taluk Hospital.According to Raju, the SI had also framed him in a fake case. After being discharged from hospital two weeks later, the gang had prevented him from entering his house, he has said in his complaint.Demanding stern action against the SI and the gang, Raju alleged that the police official was aiding Maldivian nationals who were trying to purchase land in the region eyeing the huge potential it would have, once the Vizhinjam project materialises. When Express contacted the Kanjiramkulam SI, he declined to comment.
