To learn and experience the method of teaching of Tamil in India, a group of students from a leading school in Singapore, visited the Camford International School (CIS) on Thursday.

The 16 students, belonging to expartite families and learning Tamil in Singapore as part of their curriculum, wanted to know more about the teaching method in the subject, CIS Chairman Arul Prakash said.

The students, along with two faculty, keenly observed Tamil lecture on epic Silappatikaram the depth of which impressed them as they posed several questions during the interactive session, Prakash said.

Some of the students also witnessed folk arts such as Karakattam and Thappai, when they joined steps with the local artistes and students and enjoyed every moment.

Some of the 10 girl students said "we are understanding, appreciating and respecting each other's culture, which will help bridge the gap between people and also make the students global citizens."

To encourage further interaction, a few students from CIS will be visiting Singapore in October, Prakash said.

The students, all studying in 7th Standard, would visit Udhgamandalam tomorrow and Chennai the next day, they said.
