Telangana: Azads damage control after PM remark
Though Manmohan denied a hasty decision, the union minister says Congress is keen to resolve the Telangana issue soon...

HYDERABAD: After Prime Minister Manmohan Singh remarked a couple of days ago that a hasty decision could not be taken to resolve the Telangana issue, AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday said the Congress high command was keen on taking a decision on T as early as possible.
In what appeared to be a damage control exercise with Telangana activists making no secret of their displeasure over the Prime Minister's observation and the Telangana Congress MPs flying into a rage, Azad, speaking to mediapersons after the party's core committee meeting, said the process of consultations was still on and unless it was over, a decision could not be taken. He, however, did not say how long the process of consultations would take, contradicting himself again that the Congress was keen on taking a decision without any delay.

As regards constitution of the second SRC, Azad said no decision had been taken so far, but he could not say that it would not be constituted, thus leaving the scope for the T issue being referred to the second SRC. He also made it clear that no dates were fixed for consultations with the UPA partners on the T issue.
