THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finally, the government has decided to revoke the suspension of controversial IPS officer IG Tomin J Thachankary.  Chief Minister Oommen Chandy signed the order for the same on Wednesday night. However, no fresh posting has been given to him. The decision was taken after a screening committee headed by Chief Secretary K Jayakumar, which met here on Monday, recommended that there was no legal hurdles in revoking his suspension.  Thachankary was the Managing Director of the Kerala State Cooperative Marketing Federation (Marketfed) at the time of his suspension in January this year. He was placed under suspension following a recommendation from the Union Home Ministry to initiate disciplinary action against him.  The recommendation was the outcome of an investigation conducted by the National Investigation Agency which found that Thachankary had met persons with criminal and terrorist background and accepted their hospitality in his unauthorised Qatar trip in 2010. It was the previous LDF Government which sought an NIA investigation  against Thachankary after the Indian Ambassador to Qatar, Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, reported that Thachankary had met four persons with terror links in Doha.
