PUDUCHERRY: Police have made elaborate security arrangements in the Union Territory in view of Independence Day.Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) V J Chandran said that 1,500 police personnel would be deployed for bandobust duty at various places, including Indira Gandhi sports complex where Chief Minister N Rangasamy would unfurl the national flag on Monday.Elaborating on the security measures, the SSP said a close watch would be kept on the lodges and hotels; passengers at the railway station and bus station are being screened; and vehicles entering the UT were being inspected.On Monday, vehicular movement on the beach road would a regulated between 6 am and 11.30 am, and also between 4 pm and 10 pm.The police have issued directions to the public to park their vehicles at the specified spaces and secure them with extra locks before proceeding to watch the Independence Day parade.  Parking for two-wheelers would be provided at Petit Seminaire Primary School grounds, while cars and other vehicles have to be parked at Uppalam New Port ground. Invitees may park their vehicles beyond Gate No II on the Vambakeerapalayam road.   Meanwhile, Union Minister V Narayanasamy, CM Rangasamy, and AIADMK Puducherry Secretary A Anbazhagan  extended Independence Day greetings.
